Welcome to my site, My name is Peter Chipchase (Pete). I am a retired fire-fighter who formerly worked for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service. I Joined the Barnsley Fire and Ambulance Service in 1964 as a Fireman/Ambulance man when both services were merged, at this time the service was in the process of becoming two separate services working from the same building.
In 1974 with the amalgamation into South Yorkshire of 5 Brigades. Barnsley, Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster and parts of West Riding Fire Service, South Yorkshire Fire Service was born.
